Guild Rankings

The guild has a set of requirements which must be fulfilled in order to attain a given ranking within the guild. These are listed below, in order from beginning ranking to most advanced ranking.

Honorary

  • Wishes to be associated with the guild, but not in the ranking system
  • Recieve 75% vote from current guild members
  • May wear badge without insignia

Novice

  • Actively participate in ten practices
  • Be able to perform three dances

Novitiate

  • Participate in dancing at one demo/performance
  • Participate in dancing at one event
  • Participate in one service project
  • Be able to perform six additional dances (nine total) covering two styles

Acolyte

  • Participate in dancing at one additional demo/performance (two total)
  • Participate in dancing at two additional events (three total)
  • Participate in two additional service projects (three total)
  • Be able to perform ten additional dances (nineteen total) covering three styles, five of which must be at least intermediate level
  • Be able to perform a Saltatoris dance from memory (may be part of the above ten)
  • Teach three dances

Journeyman

  • Participate in dancing at one additional demo or performance (three total)
  • Run dance at one demo (not part of the above three)
  • Run dance at one event
  • Participate in two additional service projects (five total)
  • Teach dance class at one event
  • Be able to perform fifteen additional dances (thirty-four total) covering five styles total, eight of which must be at least intermediate level
  • Perform an additional intermediate or above Saltatoris dance from memory (may be part of the above fifteen, two total Saltatoris dances)
  • Teach eight additional dances (eleven total), five or more of which must be at least intermediate level, at least five must be taught at practice

Magister & Magistra

  • Run dance and/or teach a dance class at five additional events (six total)
  • Run dance at two additional demos (three total)
  • Attend dance classes at five events (Pennsic, Crystal Ball, Terpsichore, Known World Dance Symposium, Step Spritely)
  • Teach fifteen additional dances (twenty-six total): cover each style, demonstrate both male and female parts, identify the origin of each dance, eight dances or more of the above fifteen must be at least intermediate level
  • Reconstruct a dance new to the group from the original source
  • Demonstrate dance etiquette and improvisation
